City staff from the Equity and Engagement Department and the Police Department recently participated in a community event hosted by the Chinese American Association of Central Illinois (CAACI). The event, which took place on April 20, 2024, aimed to foster stronger community ties and provide valuable insights into the organization.
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to engage with the newly elected board members of CAACI and learn more about the association's goals and initiatives. The Champaign and Urbana Police departments also delivered short presentations, highlighting their commitment to serving the community.
In a show of support, both Mayor Feinen and Mayor Marlin graced the event with their presence, addressing the attendees and emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the city and community members. More than 30 individuals attended the event, seizing the chance to interact with City staff, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of local initiatives.
Looking ahead, CAACI expressed its aspirations to continue fostering collaborative opportunities like the community event, with the aim of strengthening relationships and promoting community engagement.
