April Faulkner, a Community Relations Specialist with the Equity and Engagement Department, recently participated in a source of income training session at the Champaign County Housing Authority. The training, organized by HOPE Fair Housing Center, aimed to equip advocates with knowledge and tools to support clients in navigating new legislations safeguarding source of income.

According to the Illinois Department of Illinois, source of income is defined as "the lawful manner by which an individual supports himself or herself and his or her dependents." During the session, staff from FAIR Hope Housing provided valuable insights on various aspects, including rights, protections, and avenues for recourse. The focus was on ensuring fairness and equality for all individuals in accessing housing opportunities.

The training session underscored the importance of understanding and implementing the regulations surrounding source of income to better serve and empower clients. By providing advocates with the necessary information and resources, HOPE Fair Housing Center continues to play a crucial role in promoting equal access to housing for all members of the community.
