WASHINGTON - Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's proposal to allocate funds for the welfare of illegal immigrants has sparked controversy, with Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) criticizing the plan. In response to Pritzker's State of the State Address, Miller expressed concerns about the financial burden placed on Illinois taxpayers. She stated, "JB Pritzker announced that he wants Illinois taxpayers to pay an additional $182 million out of our pockets to provide welfare for illegal immigrants, who illegally crossed our southern border in violation of our immigration laws as a result of the Biden Border Crisis."
Furthermore, Miller pointed out that Pritzker did not mention any arrangements for free accommodation for illegal immigrants, contrary to what was implied. She remarked, "Pritzker said that every Illinois resident needs to step up and provide free services for illegal immigrants, but he did not announce that Hyatt Hotels would be providing free hotel rooms to shelter illegal aliens at no cost to taxpayers."
Miller also criticized Pritzker for shifting blame and not addressing the current administration's role in the situation. She highlighted, "Pritzker is placing this burden on working families and bizarrely blaming President Trump, even though Joe Biden has occupied the Oval Office for three years and Biden is the one who opened our southern border to this invasion by reversing all of President Trump's border security policies."
The Congresswoman raised concerns about the potential consequences of amnesty legislation proposed by Pritzker, stating, "Pritzker argued that Congress should pass amnesty legislation, which would worsen the crisis by offering 'asylum amnesty' and a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants who are seeking free housing, healthcare, welfare, and benefits from US taxpayers."
In conclusion, Miller accused Pritzker of breaking promises made to voters and prioritizing the welfare of illegal immigrants over the well-being of working families and taxpayers in Illinois. She stated, "Pritzker is violating the promise he made to voters by putting the working families and taxpayers of Illinois last and forcing the burden of welfare for illegal immigrants on the people suffering the most from Joe Biden's inflation crisis."
