Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met Oct. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order  

Village President, Joyce Ragle, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.   

2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and roll call taken. Present was Village President, Joyce Ragle, Village Trustees, Dee Ann Hoffman, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, Nathan Nierenhausen and Todd Jamison; Village Trustee and ESDA Coordinator, Robert Russian; Village Clerk, Christine Conner, Village Maintenance, Rob Wood, Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz, Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed, and Village Attorney, Elizabeth Megli. 

3. Presentations/Comments from the General Public – None

4. Consent Agenda 

Motion made by Dee Ann Hoffman, second by Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion passed. 

5. Approval of Bills Received After Preparation of Treasurer’s Report  

  • IML/Risk Insurance                          $ 13,968.42
  • TownWeb Design                                    843.00
  • U.S.P.S. for Post Office box rental          152.00
  • Simplified Computers                              110.00 
Motion made by Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, second by Todd Jamison, to approve payment of the bills received after preparation of the Treasurer’s Report. Motion passed.

6. Reports

6.1 Village Clerk, Christine ConnerOne rental request for November, 2023, and one rental request for December. 

6.2 Village Maintenance, Rob Wood

Rob reported a leaking fire hydrant at Hickory and Adams Streets. Illinois American Water has been contacted. 

6.3 Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed 

Lyle reported issuing a permit for a Solar Array at 315 N. Elm St., a permit for asbestos removal at 105 E. Adams St., a permit for demolition at 105 E. Adams St., and a permit for a new roof at 102 N. Oak St.

6.4 ESDA Coordinator, Rob RussianRob reported Emergency systems are in good working order. 

7. Old Business

7.1 Joyce Ragle reported the house is down at 105 E. Adams Street and debris is being picked up. 

8. New Business  

8.1 Motion made by Rob Russian, second by Dee Ann Hoffman, to approve removal of five (5) tree stumps at a cost of $600.00.  Motion passed. 

8.2 The Sanitary Sewer System and Wastewater Treatment Plant Survey and survey process were discussed.  Village property owners will be notified of the Open House dates where they will cast their votes to determine if there is support for taking the next step of paying to apply for a grant. There will be only one vote per household. 

8.3 The Village Halloween Party will be Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth does not currently have anyone to help.  The Sons of the American Legion will pay for the refreshments and prizes.

11. Announcements

11.1 Next Village Board Meeting, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, 6:30 p.m.

11.2 Next Study Session will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, 6:30 p.m.

12. Adjournment 

Motion to adjourn was made by Robert Russian, second by Nathan Nierenhausen. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
