A couple of weeks ago, Kerry Gifford, the General Manager of the Sangamon Valley Public Water District, turned in his resignation as Treasurer of the District and apparently had some words with the water district’s board president or someone else in the office.
While we do not know the content of that conversation yet, nor the reasons for these orders of protection filings, Musick Constance filed for an Emergency Order of Protection against Gifford, which was followed up by another Emergency Order of Protection being filed against him by former board member, Olen Parkhill.
Today, in Champaign County Circuit Court, Judge Ramona Sullivan signed the Stalking / No Contact Orders, extended the Emergency OPs, and scheduled the Plenary Hearings for June 9, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom G.
Starting on Monday, May 1, 2023, the newly elected board members will take office from the formerly appointed board due to passage of a referendum last fall calling for the water district board members to be elected, rather than appointed.
We asked Gifford for a response, but his only replies were insults.
Edit: Gifford responded a third time, with the following: “I will be moving on with my life. I deny all accusations made against me. OPs require minimum proof this allows for a subjective at best filing but in this case flat out lies without consequences.”
