City of Hoopeston City Council met Feb. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER BY MAYOR WISE FOLLOWING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEIANCE.

II. ROLL CALL-The five council members present were Miller, Eyrich, Ferrell, Porth and Richards. Garrett came in after roll call had been taken. Gonzalez and Lawson were absent.

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA-Motion made by Richards, seconded by Eyrich to approve the agenda. Agenda was approved 5-0.

IV. MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING-Porth moved to approve minutes seconded by Richards. Minutes were approved 5-0.

V. PAYMENT OF BILLS-Ferrell to approve payment of bills seconded by Miller. Bills were approved by roll call vote 5-0.

VI. NO PRESENTATIONS

VII. NO PETITIONS TO COUNCIL

VIII.NO PUBLIC COMMENT

IX. NO EXECUTIVE SESSION.

X. REPORT OF OFFICERS

a) Eyrich made a motion to approved Resolution 2023-9. The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute any and all documents and contract agreements between Fehr Graham and the city and Cox Law Firm for the upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant. Ferrell seconded the motion. Roll vote was taken and Resolution 2023-9 was approved 5-0. Eyrich reported that there is a leak at the corner of Penn and Euclid.

b) Ferrell announced the electronics recycling will be May 13.

c) Miller had no report.

d) Porth stated that it is time to look at the budget. He plans to meet with department heads to look at little things that can be eliminated. He asked that one-time expenses not be put into the budget at this time.

e) Garrett, arriving late, asked citizens be mindful of cemetery rules and regulations when cleaning up and decorating grave sites. The outside road is scheduled to be replaced with accrued funds. f) Richards let April Jones report on park activities. A skate jam is planned for August 5 with the possibility of the color run held the same day. She also addressed the problem of the geese and had suggestions on solutions.

XIV.MAYOR COMMENTS-bleachers are to be removed from the high school to the park annex. The aluminum seating will replace the wooden seats at the annex.

Stumps are being ground and will be filled in the spring. Tractor Supply Company Store has presented a site plan for the space at Hoopeston Plaza.

XV. ATTORNEY COMMENTS-Attorney Miller reported that he has served a 15- day notice to the Coss heirs on the building on East Main St.

He has not heard from the attorney for Bzzz’s bar. Teasdale would like an easement to make use of a public road.

XVI.ADJOURNMENT-Motion made by Ferrell seconded by Richards to adjourn. Council adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
