Q3 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Champaign County convicted of financial crimes or fraud set for release

There were two offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud living in Champaign County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows a man and a woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 43. The younger parolee was a 34-year-old woman sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 51-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Kevin M. Wimsett. He was convicted in 2021 when he was 49 years old. He is now 51.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
