Q2 2022 Recap: 10 parolees from Champaign County convicted of crimes against persons set for release

There were 10 offenders convicted of crimes against persons living in Champaign County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows nine men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes against persons, one was a veteran, and the median age was 33. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 55-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Kentrell L. McFarland. He was convicted in 2021 when he was 27 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
