Chambana Sun

There were 29 offenders living in Vermilion County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows 28 men and one woman were released in Vermilion County. The median age of the parolees was 36. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2020, and the oldest was a 68-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2015.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Matthew Upton. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2013 when he was 35 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
