Champaign County Lincoln Legacy Committee met April 27.

CHAIR: Barbara Oehlschlaeger - Garvey
MEMBERS: Kay Grabow, Barbara Wysocki, Ray Cunningham, Eric Thorsland, Adele Suslick, Shaline Smith, Kent Tucker
1, Call to Order
O'Garvey called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Shaline Smith introduced herself as the Urbana Free Library member replacing Ann Panthen. She is the Education Coordinator for the UFL.
Members indicated above present.
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA/ADDENDUM
Suslick moved and Wysocki seconded to approve the agenda. Motion approved.
4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Wysocki moved and Suslick seconded to approve the November 10, 2021 meeting minutes. Motion approved
5. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
NONE.
6. OLD BUSINESS
a. general update
Wysocki said that the Urbana Park District would like a plaque on the Lorado Taft Statue at Carl Park which would recognize the community contributions of Judge J.O. Cunningham. Cunningham asked if there was about $700 in the LLC funds. Thorsland said he would find out. O' Garvey presented the background of LLC's efforts to recognize Judge Cunningham.
b. Bylaws
Wysocki said the committee approved the bylaws in 2020. She said the membership section needs discussion. Suslick asked about the LLC mission statement. Wysocki read the mission statement. Suslick said the Champaign County Historical Museum and the Museum of the Grand Prairie could have joint activities. Oehlschlaeger - Garvey discussed the activities of the MOGP.
The committee decided to revise the membership section especially dealing with staggered terms.
c. School tours
Wysocki said that the number of tours had been reduced because of COVID and issues school staff transportation issues. Suslick asked if parents could drive students to tours. Oehlschlaeger - Garvey said schools won't allow parent drivers because of liability issues.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Setting a calendar for annual events
b. Discussion of group project
c. Publicity - where are we?
Grabow asked if the committee could be on Youtube. Suslick said if LLC could do a Zoom presentation. O'Garvey said those and other publicity and outreach issues need to be discussed at the next meeting.
Wysocki said the LLC needs to discuss the longevity of the exhibit. Thorsland said the county has purchased the Plaza Building across from the courthouse. He said the building has more accessibility than the courthouse. He said he was on the county board committee for the building.
After discussion the LLC decided to defer a., b., and c. for a brainstorming session. d. Discussion of annual calendar
Tucker said the LLC should be meeting bimonthly during the odd number months. 8. Next regularly - scheduled meeting - May 25, 2022

Tucker moved and Cunningham seconded to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
