City of Urbana Human Relations Commission met March 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Asako Kinase-Leggett, Peter Resnick, Julie Robinson Schaeffer, Greg Schroeder

MEMBERS ABSENT: Stacie Burnett

1. CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL, AND DECLARATION OF QUORUM

Peter Resnick called this meeting of the Urbana Human Relations Commission to order at 5:30 p.m. Roll was taken. A quorum was present.

Peter Resnick introduced new commissioner Greg Schroeder.

2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Peter Resnick called for a motion to approve the agenda. Julie Robinson Schaeffer moved to approve the agenda. Greg Schroeder seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a roll call vote.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

a. February 9, 2022

Asako Kinase-Leggett made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 9, 2022. Julie Robinson Schaeffer seconded the motion. Julie Robinson requested a correction to a misspelling. The motion was approved by a roll call vote.

4. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

There was none.

5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

There was none.

6. NEW BUSINESS

a. EEO Workforce Statistics

• A & R Mechanical Services, Inc.

• Clark Dietz, Inc.

• Federal Signal Corporation

• Lochmueller Group, Inc.

• Online Solutions, LLC

• SHI International Corp

The EEO Workforce Statistics applications were reviewed. Julie Robinson Schaeffer made a motion to approve A & R Mechanical Services, Inc. for 2 years, Clark Dietz for 2 years, Federal Signal Corporation for 2 years, Lochmueller Group for 2 years, Online Solutions, LLC for 1 year and SHI International Corp for 2 years. Asako Kinase-Leggett seconded the motion. Discussion ensued. Mr. Schroeder expressed concerns regarding a decrease in upper management diversity. Mr. Resnick offered a friendly amendment to approve Clark Dietz for 1 year. Ms. Schaeffer and Ms. Kinase-Leggett agreed.

The motion was approved by a roll call vote.

7. OFFICER’S REPORT

Carla Boyd gave an update on the status of complaints.

Ms. Boyd provided an update on current recruitment efforts for new HRC members. Ms. Boyd shared several networking opportunities she has been involved with recently. Ms. Boyd reminded commissioners to complete OMA training if they have not already done so.

8. ANNOUNCEMENTS

There was none.

9. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Peter Resnick declared the meeting to be adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
