Village of Pesotum Village Board met Feb. 9.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. Call to Order
Village Trustee, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and roll call taken. Present were Village Trustees, Dee Ann Hoffman, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth and Todd Jamison; Village Trustee and ESDA Coordinator, Robert Russian; Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz, Village Clerk, Christine Conner, Village Maintenance, Rob Wood, Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed and Village Attorney, Elizabeth Megli. Village Trustee, Letricia Johnson-Burton, and Village President, Joyce Ragle, arrived late to the meeting. Village Trustee, Nathan Nierenhausen, was not in attendance.
Motion made by Robert Russian to appoint Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth president pro tem. Motion was seconded by Dee Ann Hoffman. Motion passed with Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth abstaining.
Upon arrival of Joyce Ragle, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth withdrew as president pro tem.
3. Presentations/Comments from the General Public – None
4. Consent Agenda
Motion made by Robert Russian, second by Dee Ann Hoffman, to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion passed.
5. Approval of Bills Received after Treasurer’s Report
Motion made by Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, second by Robert Russian, to approve bills received after the Treasurer’s Report. Motion passed.

6. Reports
6.1. Village Clerk, Chris Conner
The Community Building is rented for February 19, 2022.
6.2. Village Maintenance, Rob Wood
Television was purchased and will be stored in ESDA room. Jim Arnold returned the wheel from the fire engine. Tubes were purchased to store maps.
6.3. Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed
No permit was issued for the demolition of the Gasland building that was torn down on February 7, 2022. Village Building Inspector to follow-up on matter.
6.4. ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian
The Emergency shelter was opened for a short time due to weather on February 3, 2022. The Emergency Alert siren performed correctly for the February test.
7. Old Business
7.1. There has been no response to queries from Todd Jamison about other broadband services.

9. Presentations/Comments from the Board
Joyce Ragle mentioned Darlene Kloeppel, Office of the County Executive, is researching broadband services for Champaign County.
Dee Ann Hoffman stated Michelle Brown, Fehr Graham has nearly completed the grant application and will soon be submitting draft responses for approval.
It was shared that the Villa Grove Water Treatment facility was sold to American Water. Tolono is in negotiations to sell their Water Treatment facility.
It is also possible that there is additional money available through the County, for unsewered communities.
No proposal has been received from Fehr Graham for the Davis Cemetery.
10. Correspondence
Notice received that Cris Mobley will check into removing the voting equipment, which belongs to Pesotum Township, from the ESDA room.
11. Motion made by Robert Russian, second by Dee Ann Hoffman, to convene into Closed/Executive Session pursuant to Section 120/2(c)(11) of the Open Meetings Act to consider “litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent”. Motion carried.
12. Motion made by Robert Russian, second by Todd Jamison, to reconvene into Regular Study Session. Motion passed.

14.2 Next Village Board Meeting, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, 6:30 p.m.

Motion to adjourn was made by Todd Jamison, second by Dee Ann Hoffman. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
