City of Hoopeston City Council met Dec. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER FOLLOWING PLEDGE: Jeff Wise was voted in to take the place of Mayor Pro Tem Lourdine Florek. Alderman Garrett made a motion for Jeff Wise to run the Council Meeting as Mayor Pro Tem and Alderwoman Lawson 2nd the motion. Roll Call vote was taken: 5-0, Wise Abstained, Alderwoman Florek and Alderman Richards were absent. Jeff Wise, Mayor Pro Tem, called the meeting to order at 7 pm following the pledge.

II. ROLL CALL: Six council members present: Eyrich, Ferrell, Garrett, Lawson, Porth, and Wise. Florek and Richards were absent.

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion by Garrett, second by Eyrich. Approved 6-0.

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING: Motion to approve by Porth, seconded by Garrett. Approved 6-0.

V. PAYMENT OF BILLS: Motion by Lawson, second by Garrett. Roll call vote 6-0 approved bills.

VI. NO PRESENTATIONS

VII. NO PETITIONS TO COUNCIL

VIII.REPORTS OF OFFICERS:

A) Eyrich had nothing to report.

B) Ferrell announced some residents came up with an idea for a Community event next Christmas Season. April Jones presented the idea of a “Hallmark Community” for the 2022 Christmas Season. Tentative dates for the event will be December 9th and 10th, 2022. They are putting a committee together to put on the event.

C) Garrett had nothing to report.

D) Lawson announced she was contacted by Arrow Ambulance/Carle to change the contract between them and the City. She will call an Ambulance Meeting with the committee and discuss it, then bring it to council.

E) Porth made a motion to vote on the Tax Levy Ordinance and Ferrell 2nd the motion. Tax Levy Ordinance number 2022-7 was passed with a vote of 6-0.

G) Wise made a motion to pass a resolution allowing Mayor Pro Tem to sign forms and documents from IDOT. Garrett 2nd the motion and the resolution passed with a vote of 6-0. Reported leaf cleanup continues and reminded residents to keep snow routes clear.

IX. COMMUNICATIONS TO COUNCIL: Deputy Clerk Layden read a letter submitted by Mayor Crusinberry. The letter stated he would be putting in his resignation. He felt it is what is best for the City because he is unable to give the City what he expects of himself because of his ongoing fight with cancer.

XIV.NO EXECUTIVE SESSION:

XV. Motion to adjourn by Garrett, second by Lawson. Council adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
