City of Gibson City Council met Dec. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Dickey.

Roll Call: Ward #1 Susie Tongate, Present

Michelle Celeschi, Present

Junior Alderman Hailey Wahl Present

Others present Lt. Roy Acree, Water Supt. Taylor Martin, & Recycling Chairman Karen Kummerow.

Alderman Michelle Celeschi led council in Pledge of Allegiance.

Alderman Wyant made a motion approve minutes of December 13, 2021, 2nd by Alderman Celeschi. Motion to approve minutes carried 4-0.

VISITORS: Karen Kummerow, Chairman of Gibson City Recycling Program updated the council on the status of the program. The owner that we contract with has had health issues recently. Therefore, there will be no recycling until further notice; all involved are eager for its return, hopefully in the early spring.

Old Business:

According to Mayor Dickey, the old business will remain ‘on the table’ for the time being. Supt. Wayne Link is checking on prices of materials and would like to discuss he and his crew possibly handling the repairs to the front of the police station. No action at this time.

Consideration of Proposals for the Police Station Façade Repairs.

Review & Consider Farnsworth Group Proposal for Police Station Masonry Repairs Construction Documents.

Review & Approve Farnsworth Group proposal to provide Police Station Bidding Documents, Bidding Administration, and Construction Administration at a cost not to exceed $9,000.00. Motion made by Alderman __________

Approval of Bills:

TIF #2 1 checks totaling $14,551 Motion to approve by Alderman Celeschi, 2nd by Alderman Tjarks, Motion carried 4-0.

General Fund: $82,412.10. Motion to approve made by Alderman Tongate, 2nd by Alderman Wyant, Motion carried 4-0.

One last item Mayor Dickey brought up was the need to do ‘oil & chip’ work on streets this year. None was done last year. Atty. Marc Miller explained to council that if they want to come up with a plan and solicit bids on their own, and with a 25% supermajority vote, bidding can be overridden. Mayor Dickey suggests we consider buying Trapp rock now and store it until time to use it on the oil & chip. No action taken at this time.

Motion to adjourn made by Jr. Alderman Hailey Wahl, 2nd by Alderman Wyant, meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
