The City of Champaign is pleased to announce that City facilities will once again be open to the public starting June 1, 2021. In order to protect the health and safety of the public and staff, City facilities were closed to public visitors at the onset of the pandemic. With the move to the Bridge Phase of the Restore Illinois plan, and lower COVID-19 positivity rates in Champaign County, it was determined to be safe to welcome the public back into City facilities.
All members of the public who request in-person customer service at City facilities will be required to wear masks while on premises as the vaccination status of members of the public will be unknown. For members of the public who prefer to not observe the mask requirement, the City will continue to offer customer service by phone, email, virtual meetings, or through the City’s website. For enhanced safety, clear partitions have been installed at customer service counters and all commonly touched surfaces inside City facilities are disinfected frequently.
Starting June 1, City facilities will reopen as follows (except City holidays):
- City Building – Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Police Station – Sunday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (note new hours)
- Public Works – Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Fire Station 1-Administration – Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Fire Station 1-Building Safety Division – Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
