City of Hoopeston Planning Commission Met March 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

  1. Call Meeting to Order:  Chairman Richards called meeting to order at 4:30 pm.
  2. Roll call was taken by Secretary Layden.  Chairman Richards, Commissioners Moore, Swartzentruber, Ervin, Ferrell were present.  Commissioners Boose and Trueblood were absent.
  3. Rezoning W.P Pierce’s 7th Addition L15:  Mayor Crusinberry explained lots 13, 14, 15 were divided into two taxable parcels in order to rezone Tract 2 from R2-Two Family Residence to B1-Commercial in order for the Hoopeston Retirement Village Foundation to sell each parcel separately and Tract 2 to be used for a business.  A motion was made by Commissioner Swartzentruber to approve the rezoning of Tract 2 from R2 to B1 and seconded by Moore.  Roll call vote taken.  Motion passed 5-0.
  4. Easement 200 E Main St.:  Saba Yokhana explained to the Commission what type of improvements he was making on the old Motel located at 200 E Main St. and 114 E Main St.  Mr. Yokhana will be constructing an enclosure to wrap around the West side of the building at 200 E Main St. and the East side of 114 E Main St.  This construction would require the City to reduce their easement rights from 85’ to 69’ rather than an encroachment.  Commissioner Moore made a motion to approve the reduction of the City right of way by 16 ft. and was seconded by Swartzentruber.  Roll call vote was taken.  Motion passed 5-0. 
  5. Questions from Planning Commission:  No questions
  6. Public Comment:  No comment
  7. Commission Recommendation to City Council:  Commission recommends approval of the rezoning of W.P. Pierce’s 7th Addition and the reduction of City right of way at 200 E Main St and 114 E Main St
Adjourn:  Meeting adjourned at 5 pm.
