City of Gibson City Council Met March 8.

Call to order by Mayor Daniel Dickey at 7:00 pm.

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Randy Wyant.
Approval of Council Minutes for February 22. Alderman Susie Tongate moved to approve the February 22nd minutes; seconded by Alderman Greg Houtzel. MC 7-0.
Mayor Dickey recognized visitors: 1.) Joe Durham of Signs of Success, 2.) Mike Friend of Farnsworth, 3.) Bill Kirby of GAH, reported that the hospital wants to sponsor a downtown free concert on August 6, 2021, with plans for 2 beer tents, permission to block the street south of 8th Street on Sangamon. The concert would be planned from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with security provided. A large stage would be erected with power., need for food vendors and a liquor license. More details will be forthcoming.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: No financial report. No administrative report. Alderman Susie Tongate reported that she is working on Friday Night Cruise Night for May thru September and will report more details.
OLD BUSINESS:
Consideration of bids for Banners for downtown streetlight poles to advertise the Sesquicentennial. Bids from Kearfot and Signs of Success were opened and read by the clerk. The council reviewed both bids and recommended that the bid for 23 small and 11 large banners from Signs of Success for $2617.50 be accepted, Alderman Aaron Kafer moved to accept the bid from Signs of Success not to exceed $2617.50 with funds being from the marketing budget; second by Alderman Dennis Pardick. MC 7-0.
APPROVAL OF BILLS:
General Fund Bills for $ 89,438.51. Alderman Randy Wyant moved to approve payment of the general bills; second by Alderman Aaron Kafer. MC 7-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Presentation by Kelli Simmons for 2021 Harvest Fest. Kelli Simmons requested a special event license for the Fall Harvest Fest on Sept 10 and 11, 2021. Marc Petersen stated that a transformer is needed and suggested a joint purchase with the city, GAH and Harvest Fest funds in the range of $10,000.00. He has met with Ameren and Ken Farmer to discuss the project. The council approved the dates for Harvest Fest and will discuss the need for the transformer.
Announcements/Comments: 1.) Randy Wyant thanked Randy Stauffer and crew for their handling of the recents bad weather situation with the ice, snow and downed trees. 2.) Clerk Carla Moxley asked that all council members complete the 2021 Economic Interest forms and return them to the office for mailing in appropriate time.
