City of Gibson City Council Met Feb. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order by Mayor Daniel Dickey at 7:00 pm.

Roll Call: Ward #1            Susan Tongate, present; Greg Houtzel, present

               Ward #2            Randy Wyant, present; Aaron Franks, present

               Ward #3            Scott Davis, present; Aaron Kafer, absent

               Ward #4            Dennis Pardick, absent; Denis Fisher, present

               Jr Alderman      Abby Spiller, absent; Alex Kafer, absent

Others present: City Attorney Marc Miller, Officer Jason Cox, Joe Durham (Signs of Success), Jan Hall (WGCY), and Mike Friend (Farnsworth Group).

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Aaron Franks.

Approval of Council Minutes for January 25. A correction to the minutes was made by Alderman Greg Houtzel, who withdrew his aye vote for the approval of the CSO project which was going to be partially funded by TIF2 funds and changed it to abstaining stating he owns property in the TIF. Alderman Scott Davis moved to approve the corrected minutes; seconded by Alderman Randy Wyant. MC 6/0.

Mayor Dickey recognized visitors: Mike Friend of Farnsworth and Joe Durham of Signs of Success.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: No administrative or committee reports this meeting. Alderman Susie Tongate reported that the pool Committee was planning on meeting next week.

OLD BUSINESS: None

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

General Fund Bills for $ 88,582.72. Alderman Denis Fisher moved to approve payment of the general bills; second by Alderman Aaron Franks. MC 6-0.

NEW BUSINESS:

Consideration of cleaning Water Plant Filters. Randy Stauffer reported that all the wells are running now with backwashing at least 2 times a week to help clean the collection system. Filters are needed and he recommends obtaining them from Northern Filter Media, not to exceed $6650.00 (including shipping) and being funded by TIF2. Alderman Randy Wyant moved to obtain the needed filters from Northern Filter Media, with funds from TIF2 not to exceed $6550.00; second by Alderman Denis Fisher. MC 5-0. Alderman Greg Houtzel abstained stating he owns property in the TIF.

Consideration of a New Sump Pump for Falcon Point Lift Station. Randy Stauffer reported that the sump pump at Falcon Point Lift Station needs to be replaced and recommends Flotechnics proceed. Alderman Randy Wyant moved to approve Flotechnics to proceed with the replacement, not to exceed $2,340.00; second by Alderman Susie Tongate. MC 6-0.

Consideration of paying for Banners for the Downtown Light Poles for the Sesquicentennial. The council agreed to table this item to the next meeting.

Consideration Approving Variance for 606 N. Sangamon, Gibson City. Alderman Aaron Franks moved to approve Ordinance 2021-O-01 as presented; second by Alderman Denis Fisher. MC 6-0.

Announcements/Comments:

Adjourn: Alderman Scott Davis moved to adjourn the meeting; second by Alderman Susie Tongate. MC 6-0.
