Q2 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Champaign County?

There were 62 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2020 that live in Champaign County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 61 men and one woman were released in Champaign County. The median age of the parolees was 36. The youngest parolee was a 18-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019, and the oldest was a 69-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2009.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Marvin Hicks. He was convicted of homicide in 1996 when he was 23 years old. He is now 47.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2020 in each Champaign County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
