City of Gibson City Council Met October 26

City of Gibson City Council met Oct. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order at 7:00 pm by Mayor Dan Dickey.

Roll Call:   Ward #1Susan Tongate, present; Greg Houtzel, present

Ward #2 Randy Wyant, present; Aaron Franks, present

Ward #3 Scott Davis, present; Aaron Kafer, present

Ward #4Dennis Pardick, present; Denis Fisher, present

Jr Alderman Abby Spiller, absent; Jr. Alderman Alex Kafer, present

Others present: Admin Assist. Peg Stalter, City Superintendent Randy Stauffer, Police Chief Adam Rosendahl, Jan Hall (WGCY), Andrew Rosten (Ford County Chronicle), Mike Friend of Farnsworth and Assoc., Jeremy Baier and daughters (Pillar and Ground Church).

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lavinia and Havilah Baier.

Approval of Council Minutes: Alderman Dennis Pardick moved to approve the minutes of October 12, 2020; second by Alderman Susie Tongate. MC 8-0. Correction to the minutes involved Alderman Greg Houtzel withdrawing his ‘aye’ vote on the CSO project because it involves TIF2 monies.

Mayor Dickey recognized visitors: 1.) Mike Friend of Farnsworth, 2.) Jeremy Baier and daughters Lavinia and Havilah of the Pillar and Ground Church in Gibson City, who also brought cookies for the council and guests in appreciation for all the work they do for the community.

Treasurer’s Report: City Treasurer Scott Shull reported on the Financials as of September 2020.

Administrative Report: Admin Assistant Peg Stalter offered no report.

City Clerk Carla Moxley reported on the upcoming April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election. Information is available online at the County website for those interested in running. The deadline for petitions to be filed at City Hall is Dec 14 to Dec. 21, 2020. She reminded candidates to have their Economic Statement filed with the Ford County Clerk prior to turning in their paperwork. She also urged candidates to get more than the minimum signatures required, in case some may be not validated and will not count. Any questions can be directed to City Hall, Ford County Clerk office, or online.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ordinance Committee – Alderman Aaron Franks offered no report.

Street and Alley – Alderman Greg Houtzel offered no report.

Police/Health, Light and Nuisance – Alderman Aaron Kafer offered no report.

Finance /Efficiency Committee –Alderman Scott Davis offered no report.

Personnel Committee – Alderman Dennis Pardick offered no report.

Water and Sewer –Alderman Randy Wyant offered no report.

Parks / Buildings / Technology –Alderman Susie Tongate offered no report.

Economic/Industrial Development –Alderman Denis Fisher offered no report.

OLD BUSINESS: None

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

A.) General Fund Bills for $ 134,799.34. Alderman Denis Fisher moved to approve payment of the general bills; second by Alderman Scott Davis. MC 8-0.

B.) Approval of Barrow’s Tree Service ck #49709 for $3,800.00. Alderman Dennis Pardick moved to approve payment of the Barrow Check; seconded by Alderman Denis Fisher. MC 8-0

NEW BUSINESS:

A)Consideration Masonry Repair for Jerry Holsten’s Building at 134 N Sangamon Ave. Randy Stauffer reported that evidently the city is responsible for this repair. Alderman Dennis Pardick moved to table this item in order to get more bids; second by Alderman Aaron Franks. MC 8 ayes.

Adjourn: Alderman Scott Davis moved to adjourn; second by Alderman Aaron Kafer. Council was polled with 8 ayes/ no objections.
