Rantoul City School District 137 issued the following announcement on Sept. 26.
At the September 17 RCS school board meeting, the Board of Education approved the formation of a Social Equity Working Group. The purpose of the group is to:
Review, criticize, and change our policies, procedures, and practices that may negatively affect marginalized students.
Identify what our philosophies and beliefs are so that we can best advocate for our students and our community.
Recommend ways to put our philosophies and beliefs into action in classrooms and our community by supporting our teachers, support staff, administrators, and families to gain the skills needed to engage in transformative, critical conversations.
Linked below is a form for you to indicate your interest in participating as a member of the Social Equity Working Group. We are looking to identify one parent/guardian representing each school, one staff member representing each school (RCS residency preferred), at least one community member (non-parent), and one student. Translation services will be provided if needed.
