City of Gibson City Council met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to order at 7:00 pm by Mayor Dan Dickey.

Roll Call:        Ward #1Susan Tongate, present; Greg Houtzel, present

Ward #2Randy Wyant, present; Aaron Franks, absent

Ward #3 Scott Davis, present; Aaron Kafer, present

Ward #4Dennis Pardick, present; Denis Fisher, present

Jr Alderman Abby Spiller, absent; Jr. Alderman Alex Kafer, present

Others present: City Attorney Marc Miller, City Superintendent Randy Stauffer, Chief Adam Rosendahl, Jan Hall (WGCY), Jessica Titus, Angel Yang, and Thomas Stoe (?).

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jan Hall.

Approval of Council Minutes: Alderman Greg Houtzel moved to approve the minutes of August 10, 2020 with a correction of his motion to approve the purchase of 2017 PJ Trailer from Brian Shields; second by Alderman Dennis Pardick. MC 7-0.

Mayor Dickey recognized visitors: Angel Yang requested a sign for 15-minute parking from 11 am to 8pm be placed in front of their business at 210 N. Sangamon to accommodate their customers drive up deliveries. Mayor Dickey referred her request to the Street and alley committee for discussion and report back to Council.

Treasurer’s Report: No report.

Administrative Report: No report.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ordinance Committee – Alderman Aaron Franks offered no report.

Street and Alley – Alderman Greg Houtzel offered no report.

Police/Health, Light and Nuisance –No report.

Finance /Efficiency Committee –No report.

Personnel Committee – No report.

Water and Sewer –Alderman Randy Wyant offered no report

Parks / Buildings / Technology –Alderman Susie Tongate offered no report. Jan Hall reported that she has checked with the State concerning our pool grant and was told that everything has slowed the process during the Covid 19 pandemic. Alderman Tongate also reported that the Basketball Court at the North Park has been renewed due to the efforts of the Rotary Club members.

Economic/Industrial Development –Alderman Denis Fisher offered no report.

OLD BUSINESS: None

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

A.) General Fund Bills for $ 97,968.69. Alderman Randy Wyant moved to approve payment of the bills; second by Alderman Denis Fisher. MC 7-0. Alderman Aaron Franks was absent.

NEW BUSINESS:

A) Consideration to correct the Council Meeting Minutes of August 10, 2020 about the purchase of a 2017 Trailer from Brian Shields and not Drummer Township which was incorrectly identified as the seller. This motion was corrected in the approval of the August 10th minutes.

Adjourn: Alderman Dennis Pardick moved to adjourn; second by Alderman Aaron Kafer. Council was polled with 7 ayes/ no objections.
