Village of Rantoul Board of Trustees met June 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A regular Study Session of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Rantoul was held at 6:00 P.M. Mayor Smith called the proceeding to order.

Roll Call

The Village Clerk called the roll, finding the following members physically present: Mayor Smith, Trustees Hall, Gamel, Wilson, Johnson and Workman – 6.

The following representatives of Village Departments were also present: Scott Eisenhauer, Administrator; Pat Chamberlin, Comptroller; Luke Humphrey, Recreation Department Director; Greg Hazel Public Works Director; Ken Beth Via Telephone, Village Attorney and Mike Graham Clerk.

Trustee Workman moved to approve the Agenda and Trustee Hall seconded the motion. The Clerk Called the roll and the Motion carried 5 – 0.

Public Participation

Debra Sweat spoke about the United States recent racial tensions and need to activate the Human Relations Commission and Private Personnel matters.

Presentation by Champaign County Regional Planning Commission on the Long-Range Transportation Plan.

Items from the Mayor

• Mayor Smith read a list of Appointment of Department Heads. This will be taken to the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Items from Trustees

Trustee Hall spoke about the recent National racial tensions and the need to bring together all of the affected folks for a discussion.

Trustee Gamel agreed with Trustee Hall.

Mayor Smith said that there will be a concerted effort to bring back the Human Relations Commission for this current purpose.

Items from the Clerk

• Minutes of Regular Study Session and Regular Board Meeting, May 12, 2020 Virtual Meeting.

This item will be taken to the Rantoul Village Board at the Regular Meeting, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 for action and approval.

Items from Administrator

• Approval of Districting Map known as Map A22 for electing one Trustee from each District Ordinance No. 2649. The Mayor then called on the Village Clerk, Mike Graham to explain his suggested motion. Mike Graham explained that after the passage of Ordinance No. 2649, a Motion should be made to make the Odd Number or Even Numbered districts four-year terms and two-year terms respectively as all six Trustee Candidates would be up for election during the Consolidated Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. These items will be taken to the Regular Village Board Meeting, Tuesday June 9, 2020 for consideration and approval.

Items from Comptroller

• Information on Year End Cash Balances.

• Approval of Bills and Monthly Reports.

These Items will be taken to the Rantoul Village Board at the Regular Meeting on, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 for consideration and approval.

NOTE FROM RANTOUL VILLAGE CLERK, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BELOW ALL OF THE AGENDA ITEMS WILL BE TAKEN TO THE REGULAR VILLAGE BOARD MEETING, TUESDAY, JUNE, 9, 2020.

• Change Order #1 for managing storm water for the Sports Complex – Byrne and Jones - $470,769.24.

• Agreement with Hutchison Engineering for design of sidewalk improvements on Maplewood Drive – not exceed $29,000.00.

• Design Agreement with Hutchison Engineering for roadway improvements on Congress and Sheldon – not to exceed $65,000.00.

• Purchase of 6 pad –mounted transformers from B & B Transformers - $57,770.00.

• Service Agreement with Merrell Bros., to reduce Wastewater Treatments solids buildup - $41,015.00.

Adjournment: There being no further business to come before the Board, Mayor Smith declared the proceeding adjourned.
