CITY OF MONTICELLO: Notice of Public Hearing May 26

City of Monticello issued the following announcement on May 16.

The City of Monticello will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020, during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting which begins at 7:00pm, in the City of Monticello. The meeting will be conducted remotely via teleconference, via phone call +1 (408) 650-3123, Access Code: 953-210-213, or online at https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/953210213 to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization applications funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact Callie McFarland (210 N. Hamilton Street, Monticello, IL 61856, 217-762-2583 x28) no later than Friday, May 22nd, 2020. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

On or about May 27th, 2020, The City of Monticello intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for three grants from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used to provide working capital for the benefit of Monticello Red Wheel, Inc. The total amount of CDBG funds to be requested is $25,000.00, and will address the urgent needs of these businesses due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Due to all City of Monticello offices being closed to the public, information related to these applications will be available for review prior to the public hearing, beginning May 18th, 2020. Information to review can be requested by contacting Callie McFarland, cjm@cityofmonticello.net, or calling 217.762.2583 to have a copy emailed or delivered to you. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. If a citizen is interested in providing public comment during the web conference, please contact Callie McFarland at cjm@cityofmonticello.net, or 217.762.2583 x28 to assure acknowledgement prior to May 26th, 2020, 12pm. Written comments should be submitted to Callie McFarland, 210 N. Hamilton St., Monticello, IL 61856, or cjm@cityofmonticello.net, and received no later than May 26th, 2020, 12pm, to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. Comments may also be left by voicemail at 217.762.2583 x28, to be read at the public hearing for the official record. These projects will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.
