Q2 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Vermilion County?

There were 59 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2019 that live in Vermilion County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 52 men and seven women were released in Vermilion County. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 35. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2019, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Roberto Short. He was convicted of homicide in 1994 when he was 19 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2019 in each Vermilion County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
