Transportation Study

THE 2045 LONG RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE [SS 2019-044)
City Manager David noted Champaign-Urbana Urbanized Transportation Study (CUUATS) is in the middle of updating the Long Range Transportation Plan 2045 (LRTP 2045) and a representative from CUUATS will provide an update.
Staff Presentation: Planner Ansong provided background information of the LRTP 2045 draft, and introduced CUUATS Planner Ashlee McLaughlin.
Planner McLaughlin noted the LRTP 2045 is web-based, and her presentation included the following topics:
• Overview
• Existing Conditions
• Public Involvement
• Goals
• 2045 Vision

Action Recommended: The Administration recommends that Council provide comments and suggestions regarding various aspects of the LRTP 2045 such as goals, visions, and models.
Council Members’ Technical Questions: Council Members’ technical questions concerned several topics including methods to increase Amtrak ridership; transportation routes between municipalities; a link to the video that was part of the presentation; and addressing speed limits.

Poll: Mayor Feinen polled Alternative 1 to endorse and accept the findings, projection, strategies, goals, and visions of the LRTP 2045 draft. The result of the poll was 9 ayes and 0 nays.
Adjournment: CM Stock, seconded by CM Gladney, moved to adjourn. A voice vote was taken on the motion to adjourn; all voted yes.
