Rantoul home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Rantoul rose by $7,000 while total sales increased by 8.1%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 241 homes sold, with a median sale price of $63,900 - a 12.3% increase over the $56,900 median sale price for the previous year. There were 223 homes sold in Rantoul in 2016.

The median sales tax in Rantoul for 2017 was $1,786. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,760. This marks an increase of 1.5%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.8%.
