Bismarck Henning Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Community Unit School District No. 1 was called to order by President, Dave Clapp at 6:10 p.m. in the Ellen R. Morris Board Room.

Audience members present: Rusty Campbell, Lisa Acton, Tammy Duncan, Jim and Sheryl Ribbe

Motion by Tricia Hagley, second by Steve Lane to approve the agenda of the August 12 regular board meeting. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion was made by Emily Gernand, second by Justin Watt to approve the minutes of the June board meeting. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Steve Lane, second by Cheryl Brumett to approve the bills of the month for July and August 2019. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Activity fund balances were approved.

Motion by Maridith Hearnley, second by Emily Gernand to make interfund loans as needed. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Steve Lane, second by Tricia Hagley to destroy closed session minutes older than eighteen months. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Justin Watt, second by Tricia Hagley to approve tentative 2020 budget. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Coop KS update - Ag program enrollment is down a little. A big thank you to all the parents and students that helped with the Rossville Tractor Pull. It was a very successful evening. Brent Rademacher will be gone for a few days because his son is playing in the American Legion Post 210 Tournament. There is work being completed with the valedictorian/salutatorian situation. The wrestling building is progressing to be completed by October. The sprinkler system should be installed by the middle of August. The Wilcox gym siding has been completed. Information presented on a sports complex plan and different ideas on how we could complete the project.

Thank you note from Cheryl Brumett in memory of her mother, Betty Smith. Teachers can now enroll their children at Bismarck-Henning CUSD#1 even if they do not live in the district. Out of district tuition is waived.

Motion by Cheryl Brumett, second by Maridith Hearnley to approve the employment of Kelsie Meithe as elementary teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Emily Gernand, second by Steve Lane to approve the employment of Stephanie Dale as Title I teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Steve Lane, second by Cheryl Brumett to approve Stacy Pierotti as a bus driver for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Tricia Hagley, second by Maridith Hearnley to approve the employment of Brooklyn Bell as G$ lunchroom monitor for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Tricia Hagley, second by Cheryl Brumett to approve the employment of Kristi Dines as Junior High study hall aide/Lunchroom Monitor for the 2019-20 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Emily Gernand, second by Maridith Hearnley to approve the employment of Robin Beckett as elementary teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Cheryl Brumett, second by Tricia Hagley to approve Mike Stephens and Blake Watt as volunteer junior high baseball coaches for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Steve Lane, second by Maridith Hearnley to re-employ aides and bus driver as listed for the 2019-2020 school year. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Emily Gernand, second by Justin Watt to approve administrative contracts as presented for Lisa Acton, Rusty Campbell and Aubrey Carpenter. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

We have Lauren McKenzie and Loris Laci as long-term subs for the 2019-20 school year.

There was some discussion on employment and registration ideas for next year.

Motion by Tricia Hagley, second by Maridith Hearnley to adjourn meeting at 6:55 p.m. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
