FAMILY HEALTH CARE OF HOOPESTON: Go Red for Women and American Heart Month

Heart

Family Health Care Of Hoopeston issued the following announcement on Feb. 15.

We're Going Red at Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services! Hospital administration and staff, along with the team at the Central Business Office, showed their support for Go Red for Women and American Heart Month today!

GAH Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Carrie Kirby, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, explains the importance of the Go Red for Women campaign:

"A woman is more likely to die from heart disease than breast cancer; it is the number one cause of death in women worldwide. It is important for a woman to recognize the risk early by being aware of their family history, and decrease the risk of heart disease by living a heart-healthy lifestyle. Regular check-ups with a provider will allow for early detection of high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol. Remember, ladies, we must first take care of ourselves before we can take care of others!"
