Kickapoo Fire Protection District responded to 27 calls in 2017 - 25 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Kickapoo included 22 fires - 10 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $100,800 in fire loss - or about $4,582 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Kickapoo Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $92,178 in 2017.
