Paxton Fire Protection District responded to 36 calls in 2017 - 33.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Paxton included 19 fires - seven structure fires, three vehicle fires and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $739,950 in fire loss - or about $38,945 per fire.

The department also received 17 false calls, including one malicious call and 16 other false calls.

The Paxton Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $256,615 in 2017.
