Rantoul Village Board of Trustees Board met April 17.

A special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Rantoul was held at 6:00 P.M.; Mayor Smith called the proceeding to order.
Roll Call
The Village Clerk called the roll, finding the following members present:
Mayor Charles Smith and Trustees, Hank Gamel, Sam Hall, Terry Workman, Jennifer Fox, Rich Medlen and Chad Smith -7.
Public Participation
Mike Schlosser spoke about change and consideration of the Aldermanic form of Government for the Village of Rantoul.
Jasmyne Boyce spoke about Labor abuse.
J.D. Roessler spoke about the disparity of upper management salaries and the general low morale of the Village of Rantoul employees.
Paul Hopkins spoke about cooperation and trying to build up the Village of Rantoul.
Wendell Golson spoke about the former USAF Hospital and the recent water problem and flooding in and around the Old Base Hospital.
Motion to pass Ordinance No. 2568, An Ordinance Approving The Annual Budget For Fiscal Year 2018-2019 (Library Budget and Employee Pay Plan). Trustee Fox moved for approval and Trustee Gamel seconded the motion. The Rantoul Village Board entered into an extended period of discussion, which at time became quite contentious and stressful. Finally Trustee Fox moved to amend Revised Budget B by Leasing only six vehicles rather than eighteen as was proposed and keeping all of the employees rather than eliminating any employees. Trustee Gamel agreed to second this revised motion. The Clerk Called the Roll
Yeas: Fox, Chad Smith, Hank Gamel & Mayor Smith – 4.
Nays: Medlen, Hall & Workman – 3.
Absent: None.
The motion carried by a 4 – 3 vote with Mayor Charles Smith breaking the tie.
Motion to pass Ordinance No. 2569, An Ordinance Supplementing And Amending Division 2 Of Article X Of Chapter 20 Of The Rantoul Code (Crime Free Housing Program). Trustee Chad Smith moved to approve and Trustee Fox second the motion. The Clerk Called the Roll and the Motion Carried by a vote of 6 – 0.
Trustee Medlen moved to adjourn the Special Meeting of the Village of Rantoul
and Trustee Hall seconded the motion.
The Clerk Called the Roll. The motions carried by a vote of 6 – 0.
