Rep. Chad Hays (R-Catlin) said it was a privilege to welcome to the Schlarman Academy Hilltoppers girls basketball team to the House of Representatives.
Introducing HR907, a congratulatory resolution for the Class 1A state basketball champions that finished their season 33-1, Hays said the team was a special group.
“The girls brought the first ever champion trophy back to Vermillion County and city of Danville,” Hays said.

After reading off the team members names on the House floor, Hays also announced the coaches, administrators and cheerleaders.
“They are not only a special group of athletes, but they are tremendous students and they are very visible and very active in the Danville area community,” Hays said. “They are young people that we could not be more proud of.”
They will be back with a vengeance next year, Hays said, before asking the House to give the team a warm Springfield welcome.
