Piatt County Building and Grounds Committee met April 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The Building and Grounds Committee of the Piatt County Board met on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 104 of the Courthouse. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Randy Shumard. Attending were: Shumard, Al Manint, Ray Spencer, Jennifer Harper, Eric Seibring, Doug Winder, Darlene Baker, Tony Kirkman, Scott Davis, Steve Hoffman, and Keri Nusbaum.

MOTION: Ray Spencer made motion, seconded by Al Manint to approve the minutes of the March 7, 2018 meeting as written. All in favor, and the motion carried.

Old Business There was no new information on the Shonkwiler memorial.

New Business Claims were presented for March for $35,668.54.

Motion: Manint made motion, seconded by Ray Spencer to approve the March claims. Roll was called and all in favor. The motion passed.

IT Approximately one half of the computers have the work order program installed. Ray Spencer thanked Scott Davis for conducting the tour on Tuesday. He said it was eye opening.

Public Safety Building Maintenance has been working on converting the lights to LED. They have not started the insulation project due to weather.

Piatt County Office Building Doug Winder said the flooring is replaced from the water damage. They have ordered the knox box and are waiting for the Fire Department to put the key in and have it ready. Winder asked if anyone from the County museum is using their office at the office building. They haven’t seen anyone there in a long time. If the new museum building is up and going, and they don’t need the office, the space could be used for other purposes. Shumard said they have estimates coming in for the tree and stump removal. The trees are on the roof. Winder said they will begin patching potholes in the parking lot when the weather breaks.

Motion: Spencer made motion, seconded by Manint to move forward with the tree removal. Roll was called, all in favor, and the motion carried.

Courthouse The elevator project is scheduled to being Monday April 9. Sheriff Hunt got two proposals for the handicap accessible facilities. The committee reviewed the proposals from Midwest Pottyhouse.

Motion: Ray Spencer made motion to accept the proposal for one ADA accessible potty house only, (Part of Option #1) with the caveat that the Sheriff may override that if it doesn’t fit the requirement. Seconded by Manint. Roll was called, all in favor and the motion carried.

Mental Health Building update Tony Kirkman said the renovations at their building are complete. The painting cost a little more than planned but all in all, it looks good and the costs were not too bad. They are planning to shift personnel in the next 60-90 days to allow a therapist to be at the office in the Nursing home for at least 8 hours a week.

Transportation Building update Ray Spencer, the transportation committee chair said they would have more information at tomorrow’s transportation committee meeting about the possibility of using an IDOT grant for parking lot repairs at the Mental Health/Transportation department building.

MOTION Spencer made motion, seconded by Manint to adjourn. All in favor and meeting was adjourned at 9:18 a.m.
