101st District's Dan Caulkins on the delivery trail this Valentine's Day

Cau

Dan Caulkins plans to spread the love across his Decatur hometown this Valentine’s Day.

Caulkins, who is running for the seat held by retiring Rep. Bill Mitchell (R-Forsyth) in the 101st District, and a team of volunteers will be delivering Valentine bouquets across the area for Zip Flowers all day Wednesday, commencing at 9 a.m.

Those who would like to have the former Decatur City councilmen make their love pledge only need to call the shop at 217-428-3481 and make the declaration.

“I’m anticipating 100 to 150 deliveries,” said Dawn Gates of Zip Flowers, who seems to have thought of everything.

“I also thought about how people are so divided with politics,” she added in a press release. “But my new slogan is: it’s not the party, it’s the person.”

Gates added her and Caulkins’ relationship goes way back.

“I will never forget Dan and his wife Jo helping me after the fire in my business” she added in the release. “Dan brought a box truck and they helped me move out of the burnt building. And when people get to meet him on Valentine’s Day they will get a glimpse of Dan’s attitude of service. And that is why Dan is the man that needs to be our next state representative.”

The 101st House District includes parts of Champaign, McLean, Dewitt, Macon and Piatt counties.
