Bismarck Henning Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met October 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School Governing Board was called to order by: Tim Thornsbrough at 7:01 p.m. in the Ellen R. Morris Board Room. The following members were in attendance: Steve Lane, John Petersen, Robert Danner and Ron Winkler. Also in attendance were Scott Watson, BH superintendant and Dr. Johnson, superintendant of Rossville-Alvin.

Audience members present were: Lisa Acton, Brent Rademacher, Rochelle Edwards and Jim Ribbe.

Motion made by Steve Lane and second by Ron Winkler to approve agenda for the October board meeting. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Motion was made to approve the governing board minutes for September 11 board meeting. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Motion was made by John Petersen and second by Robert Danner to approve bills. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Administrative update: Lisa Acton presented Teacher Orientation Video to the board. Mrs. Acton and Mr. Kendrick of Rossville are working together to unify curriculum. Many exciting new ideas.

Mr. Rademacher discussed the Juniors will be taking the PSAT test. Also Golf team having excellent year, Conference and Regional Champions, Sectional runner up and moving on to State. Also mentioned it has been discussed about a County & Conference merge, further discussion still needed. In Cross Country the girls took 1st place in conference, the boys received 4th place.

Homecoming was a success, with Bismarck and Rossville Alumni, both participating.

A few changes will be addressed for next year homecoming week.

In Football: WCIA News Highlighted BHRA Football team, Cheerleaders, Devillettes and Band. Key Club: a very strong program sponsored by Jeff Beukelman. The Key Club sponsors two blood drives every year, help with Pancake & Saugage day sponsored by the Kiwanas Club, and also is involved with the annual Festival of trees. Other Schools are interested in our secret for having so many students involved.

IMRF: Motion made by Ron Winkler and second by Steve Lane to approve cost of Participation sheet. Motion carried with unanimous Roll Call vote.

Bleachers: Discussed possibly replacing the bleachers on the Football field as ours do not meet new guidelines. We will be getting estimates for home side bleachers and visitor bleachers

Motion made by Ron Winkler and second by Robert Danner to hire Kathryn McClure as a part-time Spanish teacher. Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Motion made by Steve Lane and second by John Petersen to adjourn meeting at 7:35 p.m. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
