Rantoul Village Board of Trustees met Nov. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

A regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Rantoul was held at 6:00 P.M. Mayor Charles Smith called the proceeding to order.

Invocation & Pledge of Allegiance The Invocation was given by Reverend Albert Bennett, Bible Baptist Church, opening the meeting with a prayer. Following the invocation, Trustee Hall led the audience in recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call The Village Clerk called the roll, finding the following members present:

Mayor Charles Smith and Trustees, Hank Gamel, Sam Hall, Terry Workmen, Jennifer Fox, Rich Medlen and Chad Smith - 7. Trustee Fox came towards the end of the meeting and did not vote on any of the actionable items.

The following representatives of Village Departments were also present: Pat Chamberlin Comptroller, Kenneth Beth, Attorney; Greg Hazel, Public Works Director; Luke Humphrey, Recreation Department; Ken Waters, Fire Chief, Tony Brown, Chief of Police, Brenda Runyon, Neighborhood Services Director, Katie Johnston, Human Resource Director and Mike Graham, Village Clerk.

Approval of Agenda Trustee Medlen moved to approve the agenda as amended for the meeting. Trustee Hall seconded the motion. Motion carried, 5 - 0.

Approval of the Consent Agenda by Omnibus Vote. Trustee Hall moved for approval of the Consent Agenda and Trustee Workmen seconded the motion.

Motion to authorize and approve EDA Loan to House of Flowers Inc. - $25,000.00. Trustee Medlen moved for approval and Trustee Hall seconded the motion.

Motion to authorize and approve Construction Engineering with Burns & McDonnel for additional services for Campbell and Galaxy Elevated Tank Projects - $34,950.00. Trustee Hall moved for approval and Trustee Workmen seconded the motion.

Motion to pass Ordinance No. 2548, An Ordinance Amending Section 18-21 Of The Code Of Ordinances, Village Of Rantoul, Illinois, In Connection With Appointments Within The Police Department. Trustee Medlen moved for approval and Trustee Workmen seconded the motion.

Motion to pass Ordinance No. 2549, An Ordinance Supplementing And Amending Section 24.2 And 24-186 Of Chapter 24 Of The Rantoul Code. Trustee Chad Smith moved for approval and Trustee Hall seconded the motion.

Motion to pass Resolution 11-17-1246, A Resolution Determining The Amounts Of Money Necessary To Be Raised By The Tax Levy For 2017 Tax Levy Year Pursuant To The Truth And Taxation Law. Trustee Medlin moved for approval and Trustee Chad Smith seconded the motion.

Motion to pass Resolution 11-17-1247, A Resolution Of Support For The Itep Grant Application For Expanding The Bike Path And The 2018 Rantoul Downtown Streetscape Project. Trustee Hall moved for approval and Trustee Gamel seconded the motion.

Motion to pass Resolution No. 11-17-1248, A Resolution For Maintenance Of Streets And Highways By Municipality Under The Illinois Highway Code - $225,000.00 – Day Labor And Equipment Expenses. Trustee Chad Smith moved for approval and Trustee Hall seconded the motion.

Public Participation Debra Sweat posed various questions to the Rantoul Village Board with respect to certain operating procedures that Ms. Sweat had spoken about in the past and has not received any answers from officials at the Village of Rantoul, at this point in time.

Public Announcements “None”.

New Business “None.”

Adjournment Trustee Fox moved for adjournment and Trustee Hall seconded the motion. The Clerk Called the Roll and the Motion Passed 6 – 0.

The Rantoul Village Board of Trustees adjourned at 6:47 P.M.
