City of Paxton City Council met October 26.

The adjourned special meeting of the Paxton City Council was held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
City Clerk Smith called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Roll call showed the following aldermen in attendance: Evans, Flesner, Pacey, Satterlee, Steiger, Wilson, and Wylie. Also in attendance were City Attorney Marc Miller and Attorney Carl Tenney.
Alderman Steiger made a motion to nominate Alderman Mike Wilson as Mayor Pro Tem for the purposes of moderating tonight’s meeting. Alderman Evans seconded the motion. Roll Call: ayes – Aldermen Evans, Flesner, Pacey, Satterlee, Steiger, Wilson, and Wylie. All ayes, motion carried.
At 7:05 p.m., Alderman Steiger made a motion to enter into Executive Session for the limited purposes of discussing the employment, performance, and/or compensation of one of more City employees including but not limited to the discussion of a grievance filed by a past or current City employee. Alderman Pacey seconded the motion. Roll Call: ayes – Aldermen Evans, Flesner, Pacey, Satterlee, Steiger, Wilson, and Wylie. All ayes, motion carried.
Executive Session ended at 8:14 p.m. Regular Council meeting resumed at 8:15 p.m.
Alderman Steiger made a motion to confirm the following findings. Robert Bane was terminated as Chief of Police on August 29, 2017. On October 17, 2017, the Mayor and City Council held a meeting to consider his grievance. That meeting was continued until this date and the City Council has approved this document as its written decision relating to that grievance. It is the decision of the City Council of Paxton, Illinois, that the termination by the Mayor of Robert Bane from his position as Chief of Police shall stand and is otherwise reaffirmed. Alderman Pacey seconded the motion. Roll Call: ayes – Aldermen Evans, Flesner, Pacey, Satterlee, Steiger, Wilson, and Wylie. All ayes, findings confirmed.
At 8:17 p.m. Alderman Steiger made a motion to adjourn tonight’s regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council. Alderman Pacey seconded the motion. All ayes, motion carried on a voice vote.
