Paxton FPD responds to 19 fires in 2016

Paxton Fire Protection District responded to 27 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the East Central Reporter.

The calls in Paxton included 19 fires - four structure fires, four vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $81,700 in fire loss - or about $4,300 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian non-fire injuries and one civilian non-fire death.
