Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met April 5.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
1. Call to Order – The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.
2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call – Trustees Present were Beth Wise, Katie Wilson, Chaz McCrone, Joyce Ragle, and Dianne Reed. Trustee Tim Schultz was absent. Also present was President Smitley and Attorney Elizabeth Megli. Joining the meeting was Mary Jo Harvey to serve as Clerk for the month of April.
3. Appointment of Temporary Clerk – Trustee Ragle made a motion to appoint Mary Jo Harvey for the month of April as Village Clerk. Trustee Reed seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
4. Presentations/Comments from the General Public – none
5. Routine Matters
5.1. Approval of Regular Board Meeting Minutes March 1, 2017 – Trustee Reed made a motion to approve the minutes with change to 6.1. Trustee Wilson seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
5.2. Approval of Treasurer’s Report for the Month Ended, March 31, 2017 – Trustee Reed made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report for the month ended March 31. Trustee Wilson seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
5.3. Bill Payment
5.3.1. Approval of Monthly Bills for Payment – Trustee Wise motioned to approve payment of the bills. Trustee McCrone seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
5.3.2. Approval of Bills Received After Treasurer’s Report = Trustee Wise motioned to approve payment to Illinois American Water in the amount of $28.44 and to Tuscola Home Center in the amount of $235.11. Trustee Ragle seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
6. Reports
6.1. Village Clerk – no report
6.2. Village Maintenance, Fred Smitley –The bathrooms are open at the park. Snow plows are still ready for one last snow.
6.3. Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed - A few inquiries have been answered this month, but no building permits were issued.
6.4. ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian – no report
7. Old Business
7.1. Pesotum Garage Sale Dates – May 12 and 13
7.2. Pesotum Clean-Up Date – May 20
8. New Business
8.1. Approval of New Maintenance Department Personnel – Maintenance Fred Smitley reported. All five applicants were interviewed. Mr. Kerry Grove was recommended to the board as head of maintenance for the Village of Pesotum. Trustee McCrone made a motion to hire Kerry Grove as Maintenance Supervisor at $15 per hour for no more than 1500 hours per year. Trustee Ragle seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
9. Presentations/Comments from the Board –
9.1. New President-elect Joyce Ragle and Trustees-elect Dianne Reed and Dee Ann Hoffman were congratulated for their successful elections. New appointments and elected officials will be sworn in at the May Board meeting.
9.2. Trustee Wilson made a request on behalf of the Boy Scouts for a donation of candy for a local Easter Carnival hosted by the Scouts. Given the short notice of the request, the board advised the Scouts purchase the candy and request reimbursement for no more than $120.
9.3. Trustee Wilson made a request for announcements for the upcoming newsletter.
9.4. Trustee Reed thanked Cheryl Smitley and Fred Smitley for their commitment in service to the community.
