44.5 percent of Rantoul's 2015 graduating class enrolled in college

Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 44.5 percent of Rantoul Township High School's 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.

The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.

For Rantoul Township High, its college enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 55.9 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.

Among high schools in Champaign, the class of 2015 college readiness rates at Mahomet-Seymour High School (68.6 percent), St Joseph-Ogden High School (55.7 percent), Fisher Junior/Senior High School (53.7 percent), Urbana High School (40.4 percent) and Heritage High School (39 percent) were all higher than at Rantoul Township High. The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.

Enrollment at Rantoul Township High in 2015 was 740. 152 (20.54 percent) were seniors.

Also according to ISBE, 29.2 percent of Rantoul Township High seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.

All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."

Only 12.5 percent of Rantoul Township High students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
