The Champaign Unit 4 School District will hold the first of two Schools of Choice information sessions at 6 p.m. today at Garden Hills Elementary School.
The meeting will provide a Schools of Choice overview, and officials will answer parents' questions about the program. A Showcase of Schools will include presentations on the district's 12 elementary schools.
Starting in February, families also can visit any of the schools during the school day on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. In March, schools will be available for visiting on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.
The district will hold another information session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Kenwood Elementary School, and open houses with tours will be held 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 23, at all of the elementary schools.
Families with students turning 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 can visit the Family Information Center at 1103 N. Neil St. to rank and register their kindergarten school choices for their children any time between now and March 31.
Families interested in exploring middle-school options are encouraged to attend open houses 6:30-8 p.m. at Jefferson Middle School on April 18, Franklin Middle School on April 19 and Edison Middle School on April 21.
Middle school registration will be open from April 25-29.
