Urbana to hold Martin Luther King Jr. award ceremony

The city of Urbana will hold its 15th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Countywide Celebration Jan. 15 at Parkland College.

The ceremony will celebrate the theme of "Investing in the Wealth of Diversity in Our Community" by presenting three committed community servants with awards to honor their contributions:

**Barbara Kessel will receive the Burgess--Freiburg Humanitarian Award.

**Rohn Koester will receive the Doris Hoskins Prestigious Community Service Award.

**Melany Jackson will receive the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award.

The free event is sponsored by Champaign County, the city of Champaign, the city of Urbana, Parkland College, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The ceremony, which is open to the public, is at 4 p.m. in Parkland College Building U, 2400 W. Bradley Ave. in Champaign.
