The Thomasboro Board voted to replace the roof on a pavilion at West Side Park at its meeting Dec 7.
The shingles on the roof were damaged during a storm. Village officials originally planned to fix the damaged shingles at a cost of $500, until they received a bid from Larry Deremiah to replace the entire roof with metal roofing for $2,951.
In other action, Village Attorney Karen Wade updated the board on the village's ongoing attempt to acquire the allegedly abandoned properties at 501 Frederick St. and 702 Morris St. The properties have been declared a nuisance and the village has served several notices to the property owners without response.
Wade said the village is waiting for a court to certify the buildings abandoned. After that, the village will need to wait another month or two while it posts a notice of intent to acquire the properties through judicial deed.
A judicial foreclosure is a foreclosure executed by a court rather than a bank.
The board also adopted its 2016 meeting schedule, which continues the pattern of meetings on the first Monday of the month.
