Urbana council allows Farm Lake rezoning to move forward

Urbanalogo

The Urbana City Council defeated a resolution of protest against the rezoning of a 10-acre parcel on North Cunningham Avenue at its Dec 14 meeting.

The resolution objected to a request by Farm Lake Inc. to move the property at 2502 N. Cunningham Ave. from multi-family residential to agricultural zoning. The protest resolution said that rezoning the property was not in the best interests of the city, even though it complies with land-use visions included in the 2005 City of Urbana Comprehensive Plan.

The council vote followed the recommendation of the Urbana Plan Commission, which voted 7-1 against the protest resolution at their Dec 10 meeting.
