The Rantoul Village Board of Trustees' Dec. 8 meeting was called to order by Mayor Chuck Smith beginning with an invocation led by Wesley Miller, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call.
After the agenda was approved, a public participation session was scheduled for any citizens wishing to address the Board with comments lasting up to three minutes per speaker.
The Board approved the minutes of the Nov. 3 regular study session and the Nov. 10 regular Board meeting, bills, and monthly financial reports; adopted the 2016 Annual Meeting schedule, and passed six ordinances and one resolution. The first five ordinances authorized abatement of tax levies for bonds in various series, while the sixth amended an ordinance code related to meeting times. The resolution was an approval of an agreement and claim release.
Next on the agenda was approval of any items removed from the consent agenda, including motions to enter into contracts with private vendors for two projects. Consideration of ordinances and resolutions concerned four motions regarding village taxes, real estate sales, redevelopment and rezoning in Rantoul.
New business and public announcements were followed by adjournment.
The next study session will be 6 p.m. Jan. 5 and the next regular board meeting will be 6 p.m. on Jan. 12. Meetings are held in the Louis B. Schelling Memorial Board Room Municipal Building at 333 S. Tanner St.
