The Libertyville Township Board of Trustees held its regular meeting Nov 12.
The board discussed tax levies for both the township and the road district. The proposed township tax levy is $1,809,222.78, a 1.5 percent increase from the previous two years. The proposed road district levy is $1,690,712, representing a similar increase from previous years.
The board also heard from Michael Zovistoski, executive director of the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association (GLSA), who gave a presentation outlining the association's case for a new artificial turf field for Field 1 of the Libertyville Township Soccer Complex. Zovistoski said the surface will extend the playing season and help Libertyville keep up with other nearby facilities. The GLSA needs board approval to move forward because of the potential storm water impact of installing a large artificial surface. The board agreed to vote on the issue at its next meeting.
Before adjourning, the board also announced that the township will use a $1,000 grant from the environmental group Forever Trees to plant trees along the Route 147 Bull Creek Trail.
