The Serve Illinois Commission -- a bipartisan board comprised of 40 members whose mission is to enhance Illinois communities through volunteerism and an ethic of service -- recently announced that it will participate in Forefront's #ILGive campaign.
Set to launch Tuesday, the statewide movement is part of the national #GivingTuesday campaign and uses the power of social media to encourage individuals to donate to charitable organizations in Illinois. The goal of #ILGive is to turn the first day of December into a day individuals associate with giving, just as Black Friday and Cyber Monday correspond with holiday shopping.
“The holiday season is a time of giving,” Serve Illinois Executive Director Scott McFarland said. "By donating to Illinois nonprofits on #GivingTuesday, we are helping to support our communities throughout the coming year."
While the #ILGive campaign raised close to $4 million for nonprofits last year, Forefront hopes to reach $6 million this year. Forefront is a membership association dedicated to creating a vibrant social impact sector for Illinois by attracting investment to the sector, developing top talent, improving systems and policies, and building organizational capacity.
“It’s been a privilege to work with remarkable leaders all over the state and country building a movement around #ILGive,” Forefront President and CEO Eric Weinheimer said. “We are excited to help shine light on causes and organizations that really keep our communities healthy, safe and stable."
