The city of Champaign Fire Department will host its first-ever Edward M. Hoffman Awards Ceremony Thursday at 7 p.m.
The award is named for Hoffman, a Champaign firefighter who died in the line of duty on March 5, 1960. His family will be one of 12 award recipients at the ceremony. Others include local emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, police officers and citizens who have given exemplary service during an emergency.
The ceremony will be held at the Champaign Fire Department Headquarters, 307 S. Randolph St. A full list of honorees can be found on the fire department's website.
