Local community groups attend regional development conference.
Several Champaign-Urbana neighborhood groups traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky, last week to participate in a three-day gathering for community development professionals across the region.
The 29th Annual Regional Neighborhood Network Conference brought together 279 neighborhood leaders, advocates, service providers and government officials from across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
The Champaign-Urbana delegation comprised representatives from the Neighborhood Services Department, Neighborhood Services Advisory Board, Human Relations Commission, City of Urbana and the C-U Area Project. The group attended a variety of workshops on neighborhood improvement and presented an opening message for next year's gathering, which will be hosted by the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2016.
"Staff are very excited to be the host community and anticipate being able to offer attendees an exciting and educational experience while showcasing some of the key attractions in our community that make Champaign and Urbana great places to live," the Neighborhood Services Department said in a statement.
